After getting it wrong with Lara Bingle’s “Where the bloody hell are you?” ad (that was banned in the UK), Tourism Australia launched a campaign a few months ago called “There’s nothing like Australia”.
Tourism Australia asked common, everyday Australians submit photos of their favorite Australian experience. Thousands of Aussies took up the challenge and shared their unique experiences with the world.
Yesterday, Tourism Australia debuted the resulting ad.
It’s not “Shrimp on the Barbie”, but it is catchy.
What do you think? Do you like the ad? Would this ad entice you to visit Australia? Or, for you Aussies, explore your own backyard?

Why oh why do admakers persist in presenting fuddy old nasal singing ditties as a way of promoting Australia overseas? Is this because there have been so many cultural stereotypes out there for so long that to try to present a ‘real’ Australia would be too hard.
Love the images..hate the song and the dialogue.
The images are awesome as is the website. The song is a bit daggy, especially the off-key parts, but I like it. Maybe it is the American in me, but I think it works. BTW, The Aussie agrees with you. He was not impressed.
