A whole week has come and gone without so much as a peep out of me. I’ve been drowning in “To Do” lists and clutter and laundry and nits. Yes, we had our first experience with nits last week, hence the mountains of laundry. Ugh, such a pain!
There were some good times too. Here’s the happier side of what we got up too last week.
- Halloween! Trick-or-Treat, Smell my feet, Give me something good to eat! Halloween in Australia seems to get bigger and bigger each year. One report said the retailers put Halloween sales on par with Easter sales. Now that there’s a buck in it, I expect Australian Halloween to continue to grow. We took the kids to the annual Halloween Party at the local RSL. My darling Grace was a finalist in the costume contest. Amazing since my mom made her costume for me back in 1976. My brother and sister both had the pleasure of wearing it too. Now, 36 years later, Grace is winning awards.
- I have a house in transition. 10 years on, and it’s time for some updates. With very little money in the budget, I’ve decided to update the window treatments where I can, and I’m attempting to sew them myself. I made this valance for the guest room this week (check 1 for the “To Do” list). I started with the guest room because it’s the easiest. I’ve got 4 more windows to do in the kitchen/family room and I’m hoping to be finished by Christmas. Wish me luck!
- I have been fascinated with the up-cycling craze on Pinterest. So, I decided to have a go myself by adding some flair to a couple of plain white t-shirts.
Tell me Dear Reader, what have you been up to?
