While visiting the Sydney Royal Easter Show last week, The Aussie and I nearly wet our pants laughing when this Ambulance pulled up next to us.
Even the Ambo (Aussie slang for Ambulance Driver or Paramedic) is hiding his face!
I remember the first time I saw one of these Smart Cars when I was working in Munich in 1999. It went zipping by me on the Autobahn, and I nearly got in an accident laughing. They look more like a pregnant roller skate than a car.
I understand that the Smart Car might be useful for inner-city dwellers as they are small, zippy, and easy to parallel park. But, I am completely amazed at how it could be functional as an ambulance. For starters, where are they suppose to transport the patient? Not in the passenger seat as it is filled up with life saving gear.
Can you imagine calling 000 (911) for an emergency and having this show up?
If whatever you called the Ambo for didn’t kill you, you’d surely die laughing when this Ambulance showed up to save you.
