All my life I’ve heard of Hummingbirds. We also had Hummingbird feeders when I was growing up. But, it was not until this week that I actually saw my first Hummingbird.
I was so surprised at just how small they are. And, they must definitely get their name from the hum of their wings. Of course, the first time this little guy came to our feeder, Lizzie and I got so excited that he flew off. Thankfully he came back, and my mom captured these pictures.
Look at this little guy perched on top of the plant stand.

In this shot you can see his little wings flapping so fast creating the famous humming sound.
The feeder is set up just outside the kitchen window. So we are treated to Hummingbirds coming to feed several times per day. They don’t stay at the feeder for very long, but they put on quite a show.

Very cute!
Growing up on Cletus Drive we had several feeders along our kitchen window. They had my Mom (Michele) so trained when the feeders were empty they would tap on the window to let us know. Everywhere Mom lived she had feeders and they were always there. She loved hummingbirds. I have had a hard time getting them to come to my feeder until just the other day. I notice a couple trying to drink from my old nasty feeder so I went outside took it down and put some fresh nectur and they have been there every since. I hope they stay awhile. I love seeing them. They remind me of my Mom.
