20 Things You Might Not Know About Me

by A Cajun Down Under on June 13, 2011

1. My first name is Christy.  I have 2 sister-in-law’s.  One is named Christine and the other is named Kristie.  I could not make this stuff up if I tried.

2. I once grabbed Rick Springfield’s butt.  I was 14 and won backstage passes on the radio.  My best friend was with me, and she grabbed his butt too.

3. I was a flag girl in The Golden Band From Tigerland my freshman year at LSU.

4. One of my first jobs was as a singing telegram.  It was great except that I can’t sing.  Totally tone deaf.

5. The first thing I bought when I got my first ” real job” was a little 2-seater Mazda Miata (MX5) convertible.  I loved that car, and unless it was raining or snowing, I always had the top down.  Once I retire the “mommy-mobile”, I will be having another convertible.

6. I have visited 4 of the 7 continents and lived on 2 of them.

7. I have 2 bachelor’s degrees.  One in Math and the other in  Electrical Engineering.  You are allowed to think I’m a dork now.

8. When I was a kid, my dream was to grow up to be a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader.

9. I love to read, and when I’m not here on this blog you can bet that my nose is in a book.  Don’t know why, but reading and blogging seem to be mutually exclusive for me.

10. I have been to Oktoberfest in Munich, which funnily enough actually takes place in September.  It was an absolute blast!

11.  I am a night owl, but I have somehow given birth to 2 morning people.  How has this happened to me?

12. I have been known to drive to the next state just to have lunch.  That’s some good food, y’all.  Any of you folks from Louisiana guess what restaurant I’m talking about?

13.  I don’t really remember the first time I met my husband, but I do remember the second time.

14. In 1998, I ran the Dallas White Rock Marathon.  It’s one the hardest things I’ve ever done and one of my greatest accomplishments.

15. I have been to Graceland twice, but I only ate the fried peanut butter and banana sandwich once.

16. The number one thing I miss from home is the laughter.   I did not realize it before, but humor is definitely regional.

17. I am looking forward to the day that my youngest daughter is potty trained.  I’m so over wiping other peoples butts.

18.  During a lucid moment when my Grandmother was suffering from Alzheimer’s, she gave me the best advice I’ve ever received.  She said, “You can’t control what other people do, but you can control how you respond.”

19.  I do not have any tattoos, but I did have my belly button pierced back in college.

20. Next month I will be celebrating the 4th of July with my family in Baton Rouge.  It has been 13 years since I was last in the US for Independence Day.  .

Thanks, OT. Very surprised no one gave me a hard time about the singing telegram thing.

Thanks, I was not a fan of the fried peanut butter and banana sandwich. It was too thick and gooey to eat, and needed some sauce or something.

Or, like going to see Jack Daniels via Disney World on the way there and the Dinner Bell on the way home. Thanks for #21, Mom! I love you!

I guess it’s expected that I already knew all of those things about you, especially considering I was The Rick Springfield Butt Grabbing Accomplice :)

Can’t wait to see you!!!!

Looking forward to seeing you too. The question is, who’s butt are we going to grab this time?

What an appropriate post for my first visit to your blog!

The first point made me smile because my family has a thing for doubling up of names. I managed to continue the tradition as I have a SIL who has the same name as me too.

Welcome, Kate. Of all the people in all the world, both my brother and brother-in-law had to pick girls with the same name.

I definitely remember your singing telegram days! especially clear was you saying “oh go ahead and cut them!!”..meaning your lovely pink overalls, that you absolutely adored…I can’t remember if you wore them for a job, or a job interview, but it was very scary!!

I remember your lovely Miata , especially my 1st ride in it, with top down, AC cranked up to full blast, and Eric Clapton singing his heart out thru the speakers in the headrests!!
This is a GREAT memory!

Ah, the speakers in the headrest – that was the best feature of my beloved Miata. It’s on my “must have” list for my next convertible.

I’ve often wondered what your name was, so great to have a name to “call” you by Christy :) That’s one awesome list my friend, you must be so excited being ‘back home’ for Independence Day huh, can’t wait to hear all about it. Lets hope you’ll be free of but wiping by your trip ;)

Sadly, no chance of being butt wiping free before my trip, but diapers are easier than accidents while traveling for 27 hours. So, looking forward to the trip and the warm weather.

Do you remember when you, me and Scott would walk to the chimes at work at lunch. We always got hushpuppies and beer because the hushpuppies were cheap and the beer seemed more important at the time!!! Lord….I just remember the hushpuppies were like 1.50…lol

They were (and still are) excellent hush puppies. I usually visit The Chimes on Coursey when I’m in town, and I still order the hush puppies. Yum!
